Identifying Spam Emails

The Find a REALTOR® page and the Contact Agent form on UtahRealEstate.com are intended to help generate legitimate buyer and seller leads for MLS members. To help ensure better quality leads, we recently removed the open comment field to ensure spam comments could not be sent, and we also require the name and email address of the person requesting information. If you happen to receive a lead from UtahRealEstate.com and the ‘reply to’ email address appears suspicious, we recommend that you do not respond to the message, do not click on any links or attachments, and that you promptly delete the email message.

Here are some Common Indicators of Spam Messages

  • Suspicious email addresses or sender names
  • Links to unknown website addresses
  • Attachments from unknown email addresses – Most computer viruses come from opened email attachments and all files from an unknown address should be considered suspicious
  • Incorrect spelling or blatant grammatical errors
  • Odd requests or solicitations that ask for personal or sensitive information in a reply (including login information)
  • Strange looking characters in the message, which would suggest that the message was copied and pasted

If you ever have concerns about a particular message, please contact our Technical Support Department at support@utahrealestate.com or by calling 801-676-5400, extension 1.
